Why a Pool Completes the Sauna Experience
A sauna without a pool is like a meal without dessert — good, but not complete. The temperature contrast between sauna heat and refreshing pool water isn't just delightful, it's one of the most powerful wellness techniques in existence.
At Sauna Delizia, three of our five private suites feature a heated outdoor pool: Urban Jungle, Zelia and Arabian Night. Each pool is heated year-round, so you can enjoy swimming under the open sky even in winter.
The Science Behind Temperature Contrast
The Principle of Thermal Alternation
This practice has been followed by Scandinavians for thousands of years. The science is compelling:
During warming (sauna):
During cooling (pool):
The net effect: More flexible blood vessels, stronger immunity, increased energy levels and a feeling of deep satisfaction.
Scientific Evidence
A University of Eastern Finland study following 2,300+ men over 20 years showed regular sauna users with cold immersion had a 40% lower risk of sudden cardiac death, significantly lower blood pressure and stronger immune response.
Our Three Pool Suites in Detail

The Ideal Sauna-Pool Ritual
The 3-Phase Protocol
Phase 1: Warming in the Sauna (10-15 minutes)
Enter the Finnish or infrared sauna and let your body gradually warm up. Your pores open, muscles relax and blood vessels dilate.
Phase 2: Cooling in the Pool (2-5 minutes)
Leave the sauna and dive into the pool. At 30-32°C, it's considerably cooler than your heated body, creating the desired contrast effect. Swim a few lengths or simply float.
Pro tip: For more intense contrast, use the cold plunge pool first (Urban Jungle) before the heated pool.
Phase 3: Rest (10-15 minutes)
Wrap yourself in your bathrobe, lie on the terrace or a lounger and let your body fully recover. This is when the real magic happens — your body restores, your mind calms and you feel deep, all-encompassing relaxation.
Repeat 2-3 times for the optimal experience.
Swimming in Winter: A Magical Experience
Many guests discover the pool is at its best in winter. Imagine: cold air outside, perhaps even snow — yet you're immersed in pleasantly warm 30-32°C water. Steam rising from the surface, surrounded by atmospheric lighting. This contrast is visually spectacular and physiologically powerful.
